Military Parole in Place
Our Services
Military families make significant sacrifices for our nation. Acknowledging this commitment, the U.S. government provides benefits for eligible families of military personnel. Options such as Parole Place (PIP) and Deferred Action offer relief from deportation and even pave the way to citizenship. These programs aim to keep families united, allowing service members to concentrate on their responsibilities with the assurance that their loved ones are safe in the United States.
What is Parole in Place (PIP)?

Parole in Place is a special program that may allow a foreign national who entered the U.S. without a visa to remain in the country for a period of time. This is a powerful tool because it can make a person eligible to apply for a Green Card without having to leave the United States.
Who is Eligible?
You may be eligible for PIP if you are the spouse, parent, son, or daughter of:
-
An active-duty member of the U.S. armed forces.
-
An individual in the Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve.
-
A military veteran who was not dishonorably discharged.
What is Deferred Action?

Deferred Action is a broad, discretionary option that allows U.S. immigration authorities to temporarily pause a person's removal from the country. While it does not provide a path to a Green Card, it does offer protection from deportation and, in some cases, eligibility for a work permit.
How is it Different from Parole in Place?
-
Benefits: Deferred Action provides temporary protection and the ability to apply for a work permit, but it does not lead to a Green Card. Parole in Place, on the other hand, can be a crucial first step toward a Green Card for some individuals.
-
Eligibility: Deferred Action can apply to a wide range of situations, while Parole in Place is generally for those who entered the U.S. without inspection.
